What a tragic couple of days for the entertainment industry, huh? On one day you have Ed McMahon passing away followed by Farrah Fawcett losing her battle with cancer and Michael Jackson having a heart attack immediately after. Pretty crazy, really.
Ed McMahon passed away after fighting against a variety of diseases including bone cancer and pneumonia. That’s a formidable combination for anyone, but imagine how bad these ailments are compounded when they set in on an 86 year old man. Good grief…no one could fight that type of battle at that age and expect to come away unscathed, if they were to come away at all.
I think everyone knows about Farrah Fawcett’s battle against anal cancer, which was chronicled very well in a television special a few weeks ago. I think the thing with both Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett is that they were both battling against unbelievably deadly diseases. In some respects, the families and friends of these two may be glad that the worst is over for their loved ones and that they are in a better place.
And a few hours after Farrah Fawcett passed away, Michael Jackson died of an apparent heart attack. Michael was a weird guy for the last decade or so. Sure, his music in the 1970s and 1980s was legendary (as evidenced by the fact that the music is still played – and loved – today). However, this is a guy who put sheets over his kids’ heads and even hung one of them out of a window. That’s some creepy stuff.
Some of the unreal around-the-clock news coverage claims that he may have even had cancerous lesions on his skin. And I think he was supposed to go back out on tour in a few weeks.
Well, let’s all hope that these folks are in better places.
