Governor Christie Comments on His Parents and His Direct, To the Point, Tone

You’ve got to love New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Not only is he fixing the problems in this state with a head-on attitude, but he’s doing it in a clear, concise style that nobody can misinterpret. Governor Christie is a breath of fresh air because he tells us exactly what he’s thinking and he doesn’t hide from his own words. In fact, in the clip below Governor Christie talks about how he became the direct-speaking guy that he is and why he uses that direct-to-the-point tone.

Governor Christie is the man! Thank God we have him as our Governor. With this guy in charge, New Jersey might actually become a place that young people like me can actually afford to live in. Thanks, Governor!

Are New Jersey’s Democratic Officials Obstructing the Confirmation Process?

Chris Christie’s office does an excellent job at aggregating quotes and making the types of comparisons that show how “off” some of New Jersey’s Democratic leaders are on otherwise simple issues. For example, I received the information listed below from a press release the other day from the Governor’s office. The press release was brilliant in that it showed quotes from national Republican leaders on President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan versus quotes from Democratic leaders in New Jersey on Governor Christie’s Supreme Court nominee. In fact, the quotes in the press release were so revealing that I’ve decided to share them in their entirety with you today.

After you’re done reading them, I think you’ll understand why New Jersey’s Democratic leaders are actively working to hurt the progression of the political discourse in this state. And yes, I’m saying that even after the Governor scolded that bum Tom Moran from the Star-Ledger for being too thin skinned. Speaking in real terms like the Governor does is one thing, but being obstructionists like New Jersey’s Democrats are should be completely unacceptable to New Jerseyans.

Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky – “Fulfilling our duty to advise and consent on a nomination to this office requires a thorough process, not a rush to judgment.”  (Politico)

Another Reason Why I Love the Job Chris Christie is Doing!

Chris Christie is the best thing to happen to New Jersey since, well, ever! I don’t know if you heard the latest comments that the Governor had to say to a liberal-minded reporter at a recent press question and answer session, but it was absolutely awesome! Take a look at the video below.

This is why the people love Chris Christie. And I’m not talking about the brainwashed unionized masses who hold up school children or public sector employment as a reason for them to be lauded with outlandish compensation packages. No. I’m talking about the people of New Jersey who don’t want to continue paying for the brainwashed unionized masses’ platinum-plated retirement packages and benefits programs. WE love Chris Christie because he speaks for US!

School Budget Defeated in Mount Arlington, New Jersey

One of my hometown newspapers – the Roxbury Register – posted an article that talked about how the local town councils were approaching the defeated school budget reconciliation process. Below is the text of the article that deals directly with my hometown, Mount Arlington.

Mount Arlington Mayor Arthur Ondish also confessed to being a bit surprised with the defeat.

Looking at the Mt. Arlington Results

“The increase was modest, but I think that what happened is that people were unwilling to accept a budget in which the teachers did not accept a wage freeze, at least for a year,” Ondish said Thursday.

“I think a lot of people are looking at change. People wanted to see teachers take a wage freeze, like they did in some districts,” he said.

Ondish said teachers’ claims that the spending is “for the children” is off base. “I think a lot of people thought the teachers should be a part of the solution to the problem by accepting the wage freeze. In my opinion, we should cut the budget in the exact amount that the wage freeze would have saved,” he said.

“People want to see change, and this is what Governor Christie recommended. He is an agent of change, and I think that is what we need right now,” he said.

“I support our school board. I think they did a commendable job on this budget. It was a good budget, but the teachers did not take the wage freeze,” he said.

Despite that, Ondish said he expects the school board and the Borough Council will work through the process amicably.

Mayor Ondish is correct that people want change and that’s why they voted for Governor Christie. As far as Ondish’s approach to cutting the school budget – “we should cut the budget in the exact amount that the wage freeze would have saved” – I think the Mayor is right on track. For any employee to get a raise of any amount is crazy when inflation was negative over the last twelve months and the private and nonprofit sectors are laying off people left and right. I like the Mount Arlington Public School District (of which I am a product), but the miserable economy has dictated a different course for this budget and I’m looking forward to seeing what Mayor Ondish and his team put together.

Sometimes, I’m Ashamed To Be Associated With My Fellow Monmouth Alumni

Ugh. Sometimes you see things on Facebook and you begin to hate people, places, and things that you would rather disregard. Case in point – yesterday I was flipping around Facebook when I saw that some of my friends joined a group called . I saw this and I immediately said to myself, “Ugh, more of these dummy types, huh?”

This is the “Description” of the group as it appeared on Facebook yesterday afternoon:

In an outrageous move by Monmouth University, Governor Chris Christie has been invited to participate in the 2010 Commencement Ceremony. This man has proven that he could not care less about education, has zero respect for teachers, and yet Monmouth University has still asked him to speak at this year’s graduation. This is a slap in the face to the students who have worked so hard to attain their degrees (especially Education majors who now have to worry about how they are going to find a job when so many teachers are already being laid off) and the professors that have helped them along the way.

Some of you might be wondering why reading this makes me ashamed of my alma mater. Well, I’ve copied and pasted the text above right below this paragraph with my comments inserted in bold. Take a read and for the love of God, try not to be a politically biased pig when you read this stuff. I clearly support what Governor Chris Christie is doing because it makes perfect sense economically. All I ask is that someone – anyone – who disagrees with the Governor’s plan as vehemently as the 800 or so dummies that have joined this Facebook group bring alternative plans to the table that do not include increasing taxes on the highest taxed population in the United States – our fellow New Jersey citizens.

In an outrageous move [Who said it was outrageous to have a Governor speak at Commencement? This is a common move all around the country and in New Jersey. As a Monmouth University alumnus, I’m incredibly proud to have the sitting Governor receive an honorary degree from my alma mater. Good work, Monmouth!]

Shame on the person who put this Facebook group together for lying.]

This is a slap in the face to the students who have worked so hard to attain their degrees [Assuming that we have already disproved the lies that are listed above, how is inviting the sitting Governor to speak at Commencement a slap in the face? Wait…are we on the edge of reading another lie here? Hmmm…since the ill-informed person who wrote this “description” clearly is either brainwashed or not exactly bright, I’ll refrain from calling this one a lie. However, if I was graduating from Monmouth University, I’d jump at the chance to have such a great Commencement speaker. Hell, when I graduated we were sitting in the pouring rain listening to President Rebecca Stafford as the guest speaker. Talk about a slap in the face!]

Geez, I hope not. It’s supposed to be all about the children, right? What about the children?! But seriously, did any of these graduates take a basic business class? Do they know what happens when an industry in a single geographic location has too many new people coming into it? Here’s a tip – new people wind up NOT getting hired until the older folks are fired or retire. Is it the best system? No. Is it reality? Yes. Don’t tell me that the liar who put this Facebook group together thinks that all graduating education majors should be guaranteed a job once they get their diploma. Isn’t that something like you’d find in a communist or socialist country? Surely, our fellow Americans don’t believe that an education system in New Jersey that already can’t pay for itself is not required to give them a job simply because they graduated. Right? RIGHT?!]

and the professors that have helped them along the way. [As an adjunct professor, I am offended by this last comment and I demand an apology.]

So, folks, why does this “description” present another reason to be ashamed of my alma mater? Simple – I have a Bachelor’s Degree from the same brainwashed dummy that put together that ridiculously biased, chock-full-of-lies description that you read above.

Thank God I went to Rutgers for the Masters Degree…
