It would be great if I could sit here and write about all of the great new equipment at my new gym. I would love it if I could tell you about how nice the staff was at the gym and how the location of the gym provides a really nice view of the ocean while I work out.
Today was supposed to be my first day at my new gym, the Gold’s Gym at Pier Village in Long Branch. I recently switched to Gold’s Gym from The Ocean Fitness Center in Ocean Township because 1) Ocean Township sucks and 2) they closed the pool at the Fitness Center in May 2005 for a quick month and a half renovation. The pool was the only reason that I joined that place and today, in August 2006, it’s still not re-opened (yet I still had to pay the full price for that membership for the last year, even though I wasn’t given full services).
Well, it looks like in the battle of the gyms, The Fitness Center is actually one up on the brand new, luxury Gold’s Gym simply because there is absolutely no parking outside of Gold’s Gym. Listen, I understand that Gold’s Gym is located directly in the middle of Long Branch’s biggest tourist attraction that brings in literally tens of thousands of visitors each weekend. But I also know that I’m paying $60 per month for a gym membership and I should be able to use that membership at my leisure (during the gym’s business hours). I really don’t care about the stupid BENNYs that come down and need a place to park – I DO care about the fact that it cost $150 to join Gold’s and that it’s costing me, like I said, $60 to retain that membership.
This, of course, brings me to another topic – the parking at Pier Village. I will cover this in my next update…
