Today is the big day for my buddy Steve and his fiance Stephanie! No big entry today – we’re all up in North Jersey for their wedding. I wish them the best of luck and many happy years to come!

Forgive me for the geeky summer-themed title for this post. However, the sentiment of the title is true. My website company, Usable Web Solutions, LLC, is heating up with business this summer.
Some of my clients are rebuilds of existing websites, others are just looking for hosting packages, and some are looking for the total deal. That’s fine with me. I’ve been sure to give myself off a bunch of time in July and some more time in August so I can complete some of these projects. Since I started this company a few years ago the summer has always been when things start to heat up. Ha! Had to use it again.
When these projects are complete, I will be sure to add links to them on this blog so you can see the fruits of my labor.
The other big Usable Web Solutions, LLC project that I have for myself this fiscal year is to tighten up my existing contracts and make sure that, where applicable, I have subcontractor agreements in place. I’ve done a good job of marking how much time I spend on each of my clients’ sites (as well as my own) and that should come in very helpful when I do my taxes again next year.
Other than a few other administrative odds and ends that I have to attend to (such as preparing an online payment portal for my clients), the website company is coming along just as I had hoped for at this point in time! Some people often ask me why I don’t spend more time working on the website company and the truth is that I really don’t want to make the company too big. I have a small niche that I want to fill and I’m filling that niche very well.
And any time you can convert a hobby (creating websites) into a way of spending time that creates a positive cash flow, I think you’ve done something right!

Today is the beginning of yet another long weekend. I’m off of work today, tomorrow, and this coming Monday to mark a variety of events. First, today is the two year anniversary since my Father passed away so I’m going to be heading north to visit his final resting place. After I spend some time there, I’m checking into a hotel to begin the weekend festivities for my buddy’s wedding – where I will be the best man.
On Friday I have the rehearsal dinner and then on Saturday it’s the main event. On Sunday, I plan on sleeping in a little bit (if possible) before heading back to Tinton Falls and relaxing the day away through Monday.
Have no fear, though. I have entries prepared to be automatically uploaded each day through Monday. In the mean time, enjoy the weekend!

Big thanks go out to my buddy Brian for sending me the link to FMyLife.com. The “F” stands for fuck and, as you might surmise, the website focuses on people saying that their life sucks – in other words, “Fuck My Life!” The website is basically filled with user-generated content about shitty situations in a person’s life. For example, I came across this one a while ago (and I couldn’t stop laughing):
Today, I was working at the library. Some punks thought it would be funny to shit in a book, close it and return it in the drop box. The fact that it was sitting outside in the ninety degree heat for a couple hours did not help the stench; it was everywhere and I had to clean the mess. FML
Ha ha ha!!! Who shits in a library book?!
The “FML” at the end of each quip is the person saying “Fuck My Life!” If you go to the site, you’ll see that there are two options for the readers to vote on the various FMLs – either you can tell the person that their life really is fucked (in other words, whatever they’re writing about really is a shitty situation) or you can tell them that they deserve what they had coming to them. For example, this person deserved what they had coming to them:
Today, while watching The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh with my 5 year old, I realized why the kangaroo’s name is Kanga, and why her son’s name is Roo. Kanga-Roo. Get it? Yeah. I didn’t until today. I’m 47. FML
See? Who couldn’t figure that out?
You also have the option of writing a comment on the post and it appears that some people really get into some back and forth spats in the comments. Anyway, here are some other quips from the site that I got a kick out of:
Today, was my wedding. After eating, I had an urge to fart. I let one rip just before my husband and I were called to do the garter dance. He seductively tried to use his teeth to remove the garter and came out from under my dress dry heaving. I dutch ovened my husband in front of everyone. FML
Today, my little cousin came to visit my family. I haven’t seen him in a while so I figured he missed me. Thinking so, I tried to hug him. While going in for the hug, he punched me in the balls and called me a faggot. FML
Today, the dentist sneezed in my mouth. FML
Today, I was at walmart when my stomach began to hurt. I quickly waddled to the restroom in pain. As soon as I got in the stall, a huge crap exploded out of me. The child in the stall next to me started crying. When her mom asked what was wrong she said that I’d “killed her nose”. FML
Go over and check out the site – I guarantee that you’ll enjoy it!

Just when you thought the man couldn’t work any less…Howard Stern is on vacation again! This vacation started last week and will last through the end of this week. I understand that he has these types of vacation breaks written into his contract and I think that it’s great for him and his crew.
Sometimes, though, I have to question the wisdom of the powers that be at Sirius XM of allowing him to take the vacation breaks. The case that I have in my mind is from the winter months (might have been December) when XM subscribers were given a free preview of the Howard Stern channels for a week. I thought that was a great promotion, except that the Stern crew was on vacation that week! Good grief!
Anyway, since I’ve been getting a lot of traffic on the blog in the last few days from people Googling what the deal is, I thought I’d add this entry. Howard Stern is on vacation, again, and I believe that he’ll be back on the radio live next Monday morning.
