Generally, I like watching new televisions shows because when a show is done right it can really be a lot of fun for the viewer. To that end, I’ve been watching this new show called Kings on NBC. Well, I guess I haven’t been watching the show in terms of sitting down in front of the television each week, but I am DVR’ing the show and watching the DVR copy at some point during the week. While I think that this is a very promising show, there are a few things about it that tick me off. [Read more…]
Wonder If Anything Good Can Come Of This…
In case you haven’t heard, actor Kal Penn (of Harold and Kumar and House fame) has signed up to join the Obama administration. That’s right. There’s an old-school actor running Hollywood and a young up-and-coming actor getting ready to take a job at the White House. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this, but here is some text from the article linked above:
Penn will be working with the Asian-American and arts communities, said Shin Inouye, a White House spokesman. (Penn’s parents are Indian-America.) His start date is not set.
Penn told EW: “I’m going to be the associate director in the White House office of public liaison. They do outreach with the American public and with different organizations. They’re basically the front door of the White House. They take out all of the red tape that falls between the general public and the White House. It’s similar to what I was doing on the campaign.”
I’m all for actors putting their proverbial money where their mouths are in terms of working in the benefit of the greater good when it comes to being politically active. That’s a fine and noble aspiration if you ask me, so I admire Penn’s willingness to give up a budding acting career to make a larger impact on the world. Yet still I find myself wondering what degree of impact Penn can have working with Asian-Americans and the arts community. Is there a great need for a dose of celebrity in that part of the American citizenry?
Part of my questioning about Penn going to the Obama White House has to do with the fact that I really enjoy House and the role that he played on the show! Penn’s character, Dr. Kutner, was an excellent addition to the cast and he will be sorely missed. However, like I said before – I like that Penn is willing to put his growing acting career on hold and stand behind his political beliefs. I wish him the best of luck.
Thank God for Fringe on FOX
Hey everyone – I just wanted to add a quick note saying thank God that Fringe is back on FOX! This show is the only one on network television that is presented with limited commercial interruptions and it really is a great little show. I hope for two things with this show – first, that the limited commercial interruption thing stays intact because it’s awesome; second – that FOX keeps this show going because it really is one of the best shows on television!
The other channels – especially those morons at NBC – could learn a thing or two from FOX about how to put on a good show and (more importantly) how to reduce the amount of commercials during their broadcasts. For example, I find it extremely hard to get into NBC’s new show, Kings, when there are so many awful commercials scattered throughout the broadcast (incidentally, I think that this is what did in NBC’s Crusoe earlier this year, too).
Follow Live Coverage of WrestleMania XXV…
Follow live coverage of WrestleMania XXV on TBLWrestling.com and XHeadlines.com. So far, Mickey Rourke knocked down Chris Jericho and JBL quit professional wrestling after getting beat by Rey Mysterio after a 21 second match. What a way to end a wrestling career…
Anyway, the very latest information about the event is on TBLWrestling.com and XHeadlines.com so head over there and check it out for yourself now!
WrestleMania XXV Weekend is Upon Us
Tomorrow night, World Wrestling Entertainment will hold its 25th annual WrestleMania event. This year the event is headlined by Triple H vs. Randy Orton, Edge vs. John Cena vs. The Big Show, and Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker. Frankly, none of the matches are overly exciting since they’ve all been done before in one iteration or another. Just think back a few years ago to when Triple H unceremoniously booted Randy Orton out of Evolution or go back about a decade to when Shawn Michaels took on The Undertaker in the Hell in a Cell match at In Your House. As for the triple threat main event, all of these men have faced each other before but I guess the addition of the triple threat makes it somewhat interesting.
I don’t want to sound like I’m hating on WrestleMania XXV since I’m sure all of the guys in these matches will put on tremendous performances. However, it’s just not the type of event that I’m looking to spend $50 on to watch. Plus, I won’t be around tomorrow night since I have to run out to a meeting to make a quick award presentation.
For those of you who are wrestling fans, you’ll want to run over to TBLWrestling.com and XHeadlines.com for the very latest information on WrestleMania XXV as well as the best in wrestling news and rumors. All I know is that The Undertaker’s undefeated streak better stay intact. Enjoy!
