President Barack Obama has pledged to be one of the most open Presidents in American history. To show that he is both tech savvy and willing to hear the comments from all American citizens, he’s transformed WhiteHouse.gov into a blog-style website. The new style of the site comes complete with a contact form where you can send a message to the White House with the hope that President Obama will actually read it.

I hope that Americans really take this opportunity to send messages to the White House to talk about the things that are affecting them everyday. Personally, I’ve sent two messages to the White House so far – both of them dealing with a tax issue related to student loans.
For those of you who have student loans, you’ll know that you can deduct the interest paid on your loans on your taxes. The problem is that you can only deduct up to $2,500 per tax year. Well hey, if you have massive student loan debt, you may be paying upwards of $5,000 or $6,000 per year in interest alone!
If you’re out there in the world and making good money, but are saddled with gigantic student loan debt, you know that being able to deduct the entire amount of interest paid on student loans would be a great way to put more dollars back in the pockets of the working class…the very people who would not have been able to attend college if it were not for those loans. So this is what I’ve been sending Obama – that you can go ahead and fix the economy, but if people with massive student loan debt are still spending an exorbitant portion of their income on this interest, then fixing the economy won’t matter.
One way to mitigate this problem is allowing Borrowers to deduct the entire amount of their student loan interest. If you agree, here is a short message that you, too, can send to the White House on the contact page listed above:
Tax policies should be revised so that 100% of annual interest paid on student loans can be deducted on personal taxes. Many Borrowers with high student loan debts pay a high portion of their annual, post-tax income as interest on student loans. Currently, only $2,500 may be deducted annually. Borrowers with larger student loan debts routinely pay upwards of $5,000 each year in interest. Allowing the total amount of interest paid to be deducted will better position these citizens in the economy.
You’ll see that you can only submit 500 characters worth of a message to the White House (which makes sense). The italicized blurb above is 500 characters on the dot. So if this is something that you can agree with, please copy and paste the text above into the contact form on the White House website!

I’m a Realtor in Madison WIsconsin. I have listed a home where the client has a loan with USDA-RH which is under the US Department of Agriculture. She spoke 4 differnt representatives of that company. The last one told her to just sell it. We got an offer and USDA-RH sent us the payout. We could not close at that time because the Buyer’s lender need more time. When we set up a later closing date the USDA-RH would not give us a pay out. We have a willing and able Buyer, we have a seller that is ready and willing and will have to be foreclosed on if something is not done soon. Is there anyway you can help her? I just had a really dirty deal pulled on me by Bank of America.
Background: We went into serious debt a year and three months ago
when I slipped on ice, shattering a leg. Being at an in-between in employment,
thus working part time, and my husband being self employed, I was uninsured.
I’ve worked conscientiously to pay things off on payment plans, and have
sought any assistance I could find. However, the hospital bill was so much
that I had to put it on a long term plan, that would increase by $10,000.00; at 12% interest. My past year contained two surgeries, and other extended treatments
to save my leg. In the midst of it all, I carried the burden of trying to
work out finances, so we wouldn’t lose everything we’ve worked for.
When Bank of America sent me an offer, in November, for 0% until
Sept. 2009, we decided that it would save a lot to put the hospital bill
there, to save the interest, and do something later, like refinancing our house.
At the same time all this was happening, my mother passed on; leaving no
more parents. This gave me a burning awareness of need to visit aging friends and family, in Canada. Along with that, after months of treatments and healing, I’ve been worn out, and have been excited about an opportunity, a Canadian cousin opened the way for, to spend time this summer, in my homeland of Canada (and yes, as one of my Aunts told me on the phone about my accident: “On dear, you did that in the wrong country). The trip is being financed as a family gift. I was going to pay for everything using my bank debit/Visa card. However, my bank advised me that I should have a strong credit card as back up. I didn’t realize, when moving my hospital bill (paid on monthly) that it would totally tie up my available credit; that I would be spoken to, as I have been, like I’m some kind of irresponsible person for having that much debt. I’ve worked earnestly,
paying and communicating with Bank of America, to clear debt in another account, to use as my backup. That account, which I had my physical therapy on, is down to $3, 428.48. Two weeks ago, I was assured, by a Sr. Credit Analyst, that they would not lower my line of credit if I sent a large payment to that account. So, in good faith, I sent $2,000.00 to that account, for my travel. That brought my line of credit in that account to $2,771.52. That’s what it was when I checked on it this morning. However, in the midst of this day, another Sr. Credit Analyst informed me that I have too much debt, and lowered my line of credit to $171.52. Thus robbing me of $2,000.00, that I would have in my own account, if I hadn’t trusted what I was told, and sent the money. What a sad day in our

Mr. President…I try my best to work for you in the east Tx. area. I’m 54 yrs old and finally got approved for ssdisability….I thought I worked for a great privately owened company out of oklahoma but had severe spinal problems that ended my career….I was just starting to make a decent income when I just physically couldn’t function. My company made me a package that seemed good on paper but now I found out after receiving my ssdis. my company’s long term policy had clauses that cost me about 14 yrs. of supplement income..This is devastating…I’m a single father that has almost put my son through college by hard work and now I will struggle….How can ins. companies get away with mistreating workers….I never made over $60,000 until this package deal was offered which made my income in 2007 to be $129,000. I noticed I only got credit on social security for $97,000. I was amazed when I found out you only pay ss tax up to $97,000. Why in God’s name can’t you have Americans continue to pay that 6.5% on all income. It would seem that would solve a great deal of our financial problems…The poor and semi middle class have to pay that ss tax on their entire income. I would love to meet you and believe me I have battle scars defending you in such a racists east TX. I donn’t know if anyone reads these messages at the White house, I am probably just wasting my time. But here goes. I live in Kentucky, which is a pure Republican state, except for a few including myself. I am a 48 yr. mother who is faced with something I never thought I would ever have to deal with. I am mentally ill, I suffer from bi-polar disorder, pstd, border line personality disorder and ocd. I try to make life as normal for my chilren as possible, but I would like to bring to your attention that the health care system has failed the mentally ill dreadfully. We are the forgotten people, we donn’t belong in jails, or sleeping under bridges because we are homeless. We need help and President Obama, you can help us. See that the media stops depicting us in such a bad way and set aside more funding for us. Mental illness is an illness too, but it is overlooked. Please help us.
Bonnie, I agree with you. Just stay prayerful. It will work itself out in time. What is your states plan/ policy for mental health care? Some states have assisted programs. Get you a disability attorney if you have to. It’s a grueling process, but worth a try. They feel too many people misuse the gov’t. True, some do, but for people like yourself with mental a illness need extra help with medical assistance. Don’t give up on yourself. If you can not find work that has a group health
plan, try for medicaid. Hope you are doing alright.

Mr. President, I deeply respect your stand on the controversial issue of the Mosque being built near Ground Zero. I respect that you are willing to take a moral stand even when it is unpopular. I know that you are taking a lot of heat on this issue. Even though I personally dislike the nation of Islam, I have to respect their Constitutional freedom of religion and their right to build a place of worship, even when it is unpopular. Like you, I believe that the government has to respect the individual rights of a person or group of people, regardless of how popular that group of people are. I need help please,Ive been injured since April 4,2008 The army has been drugging me Not caring about my kids they are growing in the process but one of them is still a minor Who needs his mother he is only 12 years old Starting school And they have been putting me into an old peoples home where they scream all night and its traumatizing the food is bad it taste like bland and Medicine. They lock me there for months and weeks where im not allowed to see my kids its like prison they dont let me out not to even see the light of day all because they said i have to be in Washington for some appointments now i am Paralyzed from the waist down they have not been helping me at all. i have been alone here at my sisters house since i got back from the hospital. alone. i have been begging for them to send me some help here, i feel like they are just doing this so that they dont have to deal with me. they are making their life easier, at the expense of making mine harder, more difficult then what it already is, as well as traumatizing, stressing, and depressing. this is terrible. when i signed up for the army they told me that i was going to be well taken care of no matter what. they failed to tell me that if i were to become of no use to them they would care less and less each day. what is the point of sending me to washington?!?! my kids are being traumatized by this. my son is growing up without a mother, when he has one and it is all because of this. because they want to take me to old peoples hospitals so that they can “watch me”. so that they dont have to worry about me and what i need as far as supplies for my disability while i am here at home happy with my kids. where i know that if they need anything i am here. now on a different note. the house that i am living in now is not mine. it is my sisters. i tried to get a house last week but the army refused to help me after already having telling me that they would help me. when i get back i will not have a place to live because my sister is planning on selling the house. what will i do then? what will my kids do? my disability is already hard enough to deal with. the army has just been making it impossible for me to live, or cope with. please i am begging you. help me!

Hi my name is Esmeralda Romer.I am 21 and have two kids both under the age of 3.I am writing to you today in search of help.I am going to tell you alittle bit about me and why I need help..I am an exotic dancer..Not really something I like to do and dont do it well becuase I don’t like this type of job.I don’t have my ged or high school diploma.I went into a program called youthbuilders for awhile like 7 months ago but had to drop out because of lack of child care and income to pay my rent.Youth builders was something I honestly liked but wasn’t enough income for my rent..So didn’t go back..7 months ago I had a roomate/girlfriend her name was matilde.She also had two sons.They used to live with me so I didn’t have to pay rent on my own.Unfortunatley we had problems she hit me and I got a restaining order agianst her so she was booted back to mexico becuase she didnt have a visa..So it has been like 4 in a half months me on my own with my kids..I had my girlfriends sister in law watch my kids while I go to work..We made a deal that if she watched my kids for free I would let her live with me no charge of rent..We did that for awhile but now her husband is back which is matilde’s brother and matilde is also back..so now I have lost my babysitter..I can’t go to work becuase I don’t have a babysitter and cannot pay for a daycare..In fact I have not been able to work for awhile like maybe two weeks..So I have no income to pay electricity or rent not even phone bill.This month I had a friend from work call me in need of help.She is pregnant with no where to stay.So I lent her a hand and told her she would pay half of rent and half of electricity and she’d pay her own phone bill and her part of food..she said ok..She never paid me anything..She made herself confortable and sloppy I didn’t like it because my house was starting to become a big mess she wouldn’t work and would leave all lights and tv and computor on all day even if she wasn’t using them..Then I realized that I once agian was paying all expenses by myself and being used for everything..She would grab my clothes and shoes anything she wanted without asking then I told her the same as my ex roommate that if she wasn’t going to pay anything then she would watch my kids for free and feed them and bath them..She said she would..That very same day she sarted watching my kids she took my van with my kids and left.My van didn’t have insurance since end of july.She got into a crash,she rear ended somebody else because she was switching the radio station and wasnt paying attention to where she was going..So I got a call and she was taken to jail the night becuase she had her liscense suspended and as for me I have to pay the other person..Cause he did have insurance.Yet even though his car was only scratched and mine was totaled i have to come up with 2,990 dollars.On top of all this my liscense will be suspended for three years..I already have a pending going on for not paying a ticket since lack of money .In november it will be suspended.I have so much to deal with and it all revolves around money.I cannot afford even just 50 dollars to pay my phone bill..I need help..I need childcare,a better job,schooling,better housing,foodstamps,medical,and cash benifits.I have a dream to become better.An exotic dancer is far from what i would like to be.I am bilingual,have olcc permit and food handlers permit.I am trying to get some grants..I need to move because matilde is back in oregon and knows where i live.I would like a good paying job.I would like to get my ged and highschool diploma.I would like to get an actaul house so I can have a room for each of my kids.Something they can get used to grow up in and start their lives.I want to be the best for my kids.They are so important to me and this live they have now is not a good start.It is not a good example and its not stable.I once had to think of becoming a prostitute just to get money but I couldn’t do it,just the thought was bad..Its survival on a whole new level.I can’t do that not even for money..So I now am asking for your help.I may get a shut off notice form the electricity and I know I won’t be able to pay my rent this up coming month for not working.I am asking for your help to start a new life.Me and my kids deserve and need it.I don’t want to be an exotic dancer I would love to become something more like criminal justice or attorney or a bilingual job maybe..I don’t kow anything is better than this.Please help me find a new place to live I feel that me and my kids are in danger with just the fact that she is back in oregon..Thank you for taking your time to read through this.Please feel free to call me [REMOVED BY EDITOR] or if my phone gets disconnected my email is matiyesmeralda@yahoo.com or even just a letter my mailing address is [REMOVED BY EDITOR]..Thank you so much.

Really, Esmeralda? Really? People like you are ruining this country by creating excessive drains on the social welfare system. You’re 21 years old with two kids that you can’t afford… PUT THEM UP FOR ADOPTION!!! Is this really a hard issue to understand? You obviously shouldn’t have had the kids and they were probably surprises/mistakes – so put them up for adoption so they can have the type of life that you clearly cannot provide to them. And as for this crap about you don’t have money for your phone bill… GET RID OF THE PHONE!!!
That’s the problem with this country. There are people walking around saying that they need “help” because they can’t afford their cable, their cell phone, their kids, their utilities, etc. People – YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE THAT STUFF IN THE FIRST PLACE! And yes, that includes not having kids if you can’t afford them. Here’s a hint – keep your friggin legs closed and stop banging each guy that comes around your way. Put the kids up for adoption, cancel all superfluous stuff like your cell phone, cable bill, etc, and go get a job at a McDonald’s or a Wal-Mart or something like that until you can build up enough money to possibly start a real life.
But for the love of Pete, don’t expect the rest of us to have to subsidize your shitty decisions in life. Unfuckingbelievable.

My name is Louis H. Horsley. I served 20 plus years in the United States Air Force, and upon retirement I went to work Civil Service,, from 1985 to 1994, after that time I resigned and went to work in the private sector, and retired again in 2006. The reason I retired in 2006, was that from 2003 to 2006 I didn’t like what I was seeing. I was able to sale my home, for a profit, and at that time I only enough to live on, but not enough to live on in the USA. My wife is from Taiwan, and that where I have been residing since 2006, and I come back once a year to visit my kids and grand kids. In Taiwan we are able to save three fourth of our income. Mr. President I said all of that to say this, I knew that you would become our next President from the first time I heard you make that speech for Mr. Kerry. From that day I told my three son’s that you would be, and here you are. You see Mr. President, I was raised without a father on a farm, whereby we didn’t have a TV until I was 15 years old, but through out my life, I ever close my eyes, and I was always able to see what was going on around me,and I’m not saying you don’t see what is happening, because they are telling you, so you are the President, and don’t let them destroy you. Stand up and be the President that the people elected you to be, and be smarter than the other side, because they want your head. Mr. President I’m feeling your pain. I would like to know why you bashed Christianity in your speech. I understand that all people have the right to believe what they want to believe. But you have isolated scriptures to make it sound like the Bible is full of nonsense when if you where to study the context and the meaning of what was said and fully understand the Bible before you made these comments you would realize how ignorant your statements sounded. I would also like to know why you at first claimed to be a christian but now take more of a Unitarian stance. To be a christian means to be a follower of Christ, who said “I am the way the truth and the light there is no way to the father except through me.” How then can you after saying you are a Christian say there are many ways to heaven. There are not. ONLY one can be right, combining the religions is not going to make peace it will only cause confusion. If you would stand up for Christianity as much as you stand up for the Muslim faith our country would not be so offended by your remarks. Especially considering the majority of our country is Christian. If I where you I would work on being a little more “politically correct” toward Christians instead of Muslims considering they are the majority of who you are representing and leading. We need to take care of our own here in the states. Protect our own borders, build new schools for our children not
those who don’t seem to know what to do with education. Our country is hurting in so many areas. Gang warfare on
our streets with all those hoodlums carrying guns, homeless people holding signs up for just food, people out of work
because all our middle class jobs went to China.
When you were voted in you promised us change, don’t follow all those old politicians, don’t do business as usual,
follow your heart and be a hero and do the right thing for the American people.

We have the fuel here!! There is algae here without huge cost. This Algae can be used for fuel “Gas”. There are thousands of lake that have an algae issue, the owners would like fixed.
