I’ll come back in a little bit to write about how I was pleased with the end of The Sopranos – that filthy dirtbag Phil got what he deserved. But was the end of the show a mistake?
Did you all see what we saw? Meadow had trouble parking her car, then as she came into the diner, Tony looked up and the entire show cut to black with no sound until the credits started a few seconds later. Is that what you all saw?
Was that a mistake? Because that was building up to be the best way to ever end a hit show like The Sopranos…and then it cut to black before we saw a final moment.
Huh?
Meg says
Unfortunately, no mistake. I believe that is what David Chase wanted – to leave us all hanging. Whether we are to choose our own ending or await a movie, I’m not sure. I was mad at first because I was getting so anxious during that restaurant scene, I almost felt like pacing. And when it cut to black it threw me for a loop! But if that is what Chase wanted, he succeeded.
Bryan says
I was pissed for a few minutes, but I now realize this was they only way to end it. None of the nonsense endings people have thought up would have been any good. They all would have been a let down. Tony goes to the FEDS, not believable, not in his character, they didn’t want to off him, a dream sequence would have made me throw my TV out my window…so this seems like it actually makes sense now that it has set in.
Maria Miranda says
I think Tony’s gone. The last moment his mind registered before being shot was seeing his daughter enter the restaurant…just like Phil last registered seeing his grandchildren’s face. Lights out…literally. M2
Kyle says
that was lame ,My stepson said what happened? the whole episode end eating onion rings? It must be a big mistake
Joe says
Well, I’m hoping that there is some “extra scene” hidden somewhere and that we’re all treated to it in a DVD box set or an online video, but I doubt it highly.
And yes, I think that we were all ready to throw our TVs out the window!
