The New York Giants just got robbed in their home opener against the Indianapolis Colts. No, they didn’t have that fuck-up Jay Feeley disappoint during a clutch kick again (though he missed a field goal early on in the game). And no, they didn’t have too many turnovers at crucial points in the game or players that “quit” before the game was over.
They had the worst “game time” officiating that I’ve ever seen working against them! Who the fuck calls a penalty that takes ten seconds off of the clock when there are seventeen seconds left?!? Which referee calls an offensive pass interference call against a guy who doesn’t even lay a hand on his defender? Who does? Those fucking idiot referees that just lost the Giants their home opener.
One of my good friends and fraternity brothers, John, has a theory about professional sports that they’re all fixed. Some of you may think that it’s funny or you may just laugh it off, but his argument for the NBA being fixed is pretty tight and after the last NFL season and what just happened to the Giants tonight – I’m beginning to believe his theory about the NFL.
Did any of you see the opening ceremonies for the first football game this season? You know – where Puff Daddy lip synced some terrible song and had a bunch of sluts dancing around him? Did it look as out of place to you guys as it did to everyone who watched it over here?
If you believe that professional sports may be fixed in any way whatesoever, then think about who’s getting screwed here. The NFL is following in the negative footsteps of the NBA by focusing on money before product. You CANNOT have two completely wrong referee calls like they had tonight in the Giants game and expect people (especially Giants’ fans) to not think that something is up.
And if you’re NBC, aren’t you a little pissed off? At what you say? Aren’t you a little pissed off that this game – the first NFL Sunday Night game on NBC (supposedly the new “game to watch” each week) had such great hype behind it, turned into a really competitive game that saw two awesome teams beat each other up and down the field…and then ended because of two referee calls that were completely wrong? If you’re Dick Ebersol and you’re in charge of NBC Sports, aren’t you calling the Commissioner tomorrow and saying, “What the fuck did you do to our multi-million dollar marketing campaign?”
This is professional sports – not some fucking bullshit high school or pee wee league where referees actually do get paid off and throw games. This is the National Fucking Football League (yes, it’s the NFFL now) – you do NOT throw a game on national television after pumping millions of advertising dollars behind it like NBC did! What the hell were they thinking?!?!?
And as for critiquing my team after they just got an “L” (in my score book, there is a HUGE footnote after that “L”)? I can critique them…
Feeley shouldn’t be employed in the NFL. He’s horrible under pressure. He should just go home and for the love of all that is good, the Giants should cut him now. He’s not NFL material.
Eli Manning did a great job tonight…once he got himself loosened up and starting taking control of the Giants offense. The Giants offense overall, though, had way too many penalties. That’s just carelessness. This is the NFL, not the midget leagues. No team should have as many penalties called against them as the Giants had tonight (though I know some teams get more on a regular basis). I don’t count those two false, game-fucking-up calls that cost the Giants the game in this analysis, though.
As for the Giants defense, they did well tonight. They beat up the Colts really well, but again – they waited a little bit too long to get the motor running. But anyone who watched that game tonight and watched it objectively knows that with those two blown calls taken out of the last minutes of the game, the Giants could have very well walked down the field and scored, winning the game.
Why do referees feel the need to get involved in deciding such close games? I don’t pay to see referees running up and down the field, damn it.

OMG I’m a big whiner and I can’t accept it when my team gets outplayed.
Joe says
Which is actually what you’re doing now since your team got embarrassed on their home turf today by the Big Blue.
