After a few weeks’ long break, one of my roommates and I went over to the movies this past Friday night. The movie of choice? As you may have gathered from the title of this post, Monster House.
I’ve read reviews for this movie that claim it is the first real cartoon horror movie for kids. I would agree with that 100%. The movie is scary…for a young kid! And there are enough jokes in it for us big kids who don’t want to grow up where we get a few good laughs in there.
This is probably one that I won’t get on DVD, unless it’s a gift. It’s really geared towards the younger crowd and while the story is actually pretty well done and the voiceovers do a great job, I just don’t see it in my DVD library by my own purchase!
But for those of you with kids out there – this is a great one to take them to! And you’ll love Steve Buscemi’s voiceovers as the crotchety old man who lives across the street and constantly yells, “Get off my lawn!”
I recommend it for the younger crowd and those parents who have kids that won’t be too scared by a cartoon.
