Former State Senate President, John O. Bennett III, was appointed as the Keansburg Council’s attorney yesterday.
Senator Bennett was the victim of a smear campaign that cost him his place atop the New Jersey Senate in 2003, but he’s been on the rise since then. In 2005 he was elected (though unopposed) as the Republican State Committeeman for Monmouth County. Though this is a minor party post, it shows that even those who have been unjustly placed out of office by New Jersey’s South Jersey political boss can fight back – and win.
Congratulations to Senator Bennett! This man was one of my professors during the entire smear campaign and he fought valiantly and honestly against all of that bullshit that was thrown against him. I’m glad to see him rebounding. He didn’t deserve what the Democratic political boss did to him, but he does deserve to rise out of the political ash heap.
