Starting a few weeks ago I began having some stomach annoyances. You know – a little bit of heartburn, a small amount of acid reflux, the occasional indigestion – everything that is just a real pain in the ass (pain in the stomach?). After dealing with some of this stuff with antacids, Pepcid AC, and Zantac 150 I decided to schedule an appointment with my new doctor. As an aside, since I haven’t been to the doctor in a few years, I now have a new doctor since my insurance changed when I started at my current job in 2006. Oh, and my doctor isn’t available until Friday, August 7th. Yeesh…
I’ve been doing some WebMD and Googling on my problem and I think that I might have an ulcer. Not sure if it’s the upper stomach or lower stomach, but all of the symptoms fit directly with an ulcer more than they do with heartburn. The bad thing is that when the pain does occur, it’s a real nuisance. Like someone has the stick end of a broom jabbing into my stomach from the inside. Not fun.
Anyway, I expect that once I get to the doctor he’ll diagnose me with an ulcer and prescribe the antibiotic necessary to kill the infection and heal the stomach wound. Until that time, though, I’ll continue to watch what I eat (which isn’t such a bad exercise anyway).
