Welcome to Joe’s Journal on JerseySmarts.com! You may remember a few months ago when I suggested that a merger between my two personal blogs may be coming. After some research and some additional thinking over the plan, I’m pleased to announce that Joe’s Journal is now officially hosted at JerseySmarts.com! Chances are that very few, if anyone, really gives a hoot about this merger, but it means a little something to me.
Under the new system, I’ll be able to spend less time ensuring that my updates are listed on two different blog sites. In terms of loss, both Brian and Bob (two guys who wrote a few posts on JerseySmarts.com) are no longer posting here. Sorry guys. I am thinking of larger things for JerseySmarts.com, though, and that will likely include sub-blogs for additional New Jersey bloggers to use. I’m still thinking about the details in my mind, but it’s a high possibility that a set up like that will exist in the future.
During the process of merging the two blogs, I regret to inform you that I lost all of the comments made on the various entries. Nah, I’m just kidding – I actually managed to get everything uploaded to the new site with no problems! It was actually amazing – all of the comments and content of some 1,200+ blog entries made it over to this website with no problems. Good work if I don’t say so myself!
Hopefully the new URL for this blog is easier for the masses to remember. I think JerseySmarts.com is a much easier URL to remember than blog.thebalrogslair.com – I believe that you’ll agree!
While the merger was successful, please understand that I expect there to be a glitch or two in the blog. If you find any of these glitches, please let me know so I can address them and get them fixed up. While there are certainly some items that I need to work on, they are generally behind the scenes items that shouldn’t really effect you guys as you browse around the site. There might be a graphical change or update here or there, but again – nothing that will interrupt your enjoyment of this site (I hope).
There you have it. The merger is complete and we’re ready to go on JerseySmarts.com. Enjoy!

Congratulations Joe,
The new site looks awesome.
As a fellow blogger (perhaps, part-time blogger better describes me?), I certainly understand your excitement of the new blog. I wish you the best of luck for continued success with Joe’s Journal, in addition to TBLWrestling.com and XHeadlines.com.

A one-stop shop for all of my NJ news?? I’ll take it! Best of luck with the new design. You know I’ll be looking forward to much more of your thoughts!… especially the unnecessary complications.
Joe says
Marty – thanks! I’m looking forward to doing more by having one blog in one place. I’m in the process of reactivating my Amazon Merchant account (or whatever it’s called) so I can place links in the blog to sell certain items that I’m reviewing (DVDs, books, etc).
Jacob Spades – yes, everything you ever wanted in one, convenient location! We’ll see if we can’t get some more unnecessary complications posted up here for you soon. Some people love reading a good tirade, huh?!
Marty says
Not sure if you’ve been to my blog as of late. I changed the design earlier this week and I think this new theme is much more interesting and gives the site an overall more professional look.
Steve says
Glad everything went so well. I know these changeovers can be a real bitch sometimes.
Speaking of which…
Whenever I load a page on the site, the following error pops up:
Stack overflow at line: 2890
Not sure why it’s doing that, but I can’t imagine it being an intended site feature. It happens in IE7, havent’ tested it out in Firefox yet.
Steve says
Firefox works fine, no error. What a surprise.
Joe says
Marty – I did check out your blog the other day and I like the design. Good work.
Steve – Ha ha ha! Who would have thunk that IE would crap out?
I tested the site in IE 8.06 and FireFox 3.0.4 and it worked well in each browser. I also built the design for this site using the default Kubrick design as a base specifically so I wouldn’t screw it up and have visitors getting errors like that. I’ll do some research to see if I can find out what caused that error.
Steve says
I think I’ve figured it out,and it’s not down to IE at all, rather it’s an IE plugin that I’m running here. When I disable it, the error box doesn’t come up. it makes sense because it’s an ad blocker that interacts with scripting. I’ve just never seen it do that before so it took me some time to figure it out. Allowing the ads from your site would fix the issue. I’ve got no problem doing that since you’re not serving up pop-ups on people.
Joe says
Steve – Ah ha! Well hey – at least your plug-in is working, even if it’s being a little overzealous!
I just installed some new Amazon.com advertisements on the sidebar of the blog. I’ll also be integrating advertisements for the items that I review within the text of the review entries. Shouldn’t have a negative effect on anyone’s viewing habits, though.
